🔴Leica 0 for the Leica 100 Events

The recent “Leica 100” events celebrated the production of the Leica I in 1925, but before the I there was the 0, a prototype made in 1923/24 that never went into production. Pictured below is a replica of that prototype created to celebrate the year 2000. It’s also known as the “Null” or “Millennium” aaaand as “The Most Challenging Leica” to use. The last one piqued my interest. Always up for a photographic challenge I decided to try the 0 in New York. Just figuring out to load the film took days and three experts advised (thank you Rob Tirrell Jr., Ray Olson and Thomas Werner). Everything about the Leica 0 is both familiar and funky. I had no idea what it was capturing, if anything, but enjoyed a totally different experience from my go-to, highly responsive, informative, adventure-worthy SL3. In all, the 0 was charming with its 25 year old 101 year old technology. Loved going all the way back to the prototype, which offered a whole new level of appreciation for the history and technical heritage of a century of Leica Cameras.
