th Anniversary of Leica Camera on view in New York in Gansevoort Plaza today 12-5! Come by to chat with the photographers and help Leica Camera celebrate 100 years – Bearing Witness to a Century. Congratulations to curator-extraordinaire Paris Chong and to all image-makers selected (see below). Cheers and huge thanks to Dr. Andreas H. Kauffman and the team at Leica Camera AG, Mike Giannattasio and all of Leica Camera USA, Rob Tirrell and the excellent Leica Camera New York, and James Agnew of Leica Store LA.It was a deep joy to see the beauty of the High Himalaya on exhibition in the middle of New York City. I photographed this image of “Half Moon Over Cholatse” a week before summiting it alongside my dear friend Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Akita for the making of “Dream Mountain.” At 21,130ft/6,446m Cholatse is higher than any peak in North America. Cholatse is revered as a spiritual peak in Nepal and climbing it was certainly a life expanding experience. Grateful to share this image and this story as a part of bearing witness to the beauty and profundity of the world around us, and grateful to have made this image with the Leica SL.
