🇳🇵Nepal: TEN YEARS – Annapurna & Dhaulagiri Ranges
Sep 20, 20242024 marked ten years of work and travel to Nepal (2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). It’s been such a blessing to trek over 2,000 miles, document four month-long remote medical clinics, summit four technical peaks and visit numerous districts East to West.
Over the past decade, I’ve learned to prepare for any eventuality and stay flexible. This year, we planned to climb, spending most of our time in the high Himalayas, well above the elevation of 16,000 feet. Due to local logistical issues, we ended up trekking in the jungle and deserts of a completely different part of the country. And yet, we had a profoundly beautiful journey, reveling in the dense flower-filled rain forests of the Annapurna Conservation District and the sacred gompas and culture of Mustang. Though I certainly missed the extreme awe and challenge of mountaineering, this visit left my soul renewed and my heart joyful to see so many of the iconic peaks I had not yet photographed so many years of travel to Nepal.
It was such a pleasure to use the new Leica SL3 from the city to trail to the mountains. Here are a few views and sweet moments along the way. More images and a full collection are in process…
