The Soul of Khumbu
Mar 10, 2017Astonishing by day, haunting by night, traveling into Solu-Khumbu, Nepal left a lasting impression. Though usually described in superlative terms of “highest,” “hardest,” “most,” the region was also profoundly soulful, humbling, awe-inspiring and the people have a kind, quiet strength. I will never forget watching Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest) transform from dazzling white in daylight to glowing rose-gold at dusk then silvered by the moonlight, dissipatory before dawn, and honey-warm at sunrise. Solu is one place that remains in the mind, ever-blessed by Everest. This image is the ornate eaves of Tengboche Monastery and gate with with Ama Dablam and the Everest Range rising beyond.
Enjoy the journey.
In Light,
Cira
