Beauty and Challenge – Dolpo, Nepal
Feb 20, 2017“Go for gorgeous” was the instruction when traveling in remote the district of Dolpo, Nepal last October. I just finished organizing and editing images from that journey and the wildness and poignancy of the place could not help but be mirrored in the images. Going for gorgeous meant being up in the middle of the night for moonrise and moonset, catching early fog and wispy early fall snow-clouds. There are many deep, ongoing needs in Nepal, but it also has truly phenomenal beauty. I hope I’ve conveyed a sense of both.
This image was made at about 3:30AM, alone in the near-freezing night on the shore of the sacred Lake Phoksumdo as I waited for the moon to set behind the Kanjirowa mountains and illuminate the lake equally.

Enjoy the journey.
