Light and Space
Jul 30, 2015Home to the Light & Space art movement, Venice, California speaks my language. Light is a THING. It is beyond things. It is the subject of conversation, ideas, art. It is a metaphor, a suffusion, a mystery. Light blasts the gritty sidewalks, glimmers on the ocean waves and illuminates dreamspace at night. I love that it is just another character on the scene. This Light Knot, created by neighbor Larry Bell, one of the early Light & Space artists, hangs quietly in a window around the corner. Larry’s Light Knots and other works also hang in the finest museums and collections around the world. It is a tribute to Venice that such great art is just a part of the neighborhood. Masterpieces hidden in plain sight.
