Light in the Darkness
Jul 22, 2015When a thick marine fog enveloped Santa Monica Bay it was time for a midnight run. Not a soul stirred as heavy waves of fog rolled through the air, flowing around trees and over beachside parks. To the eye it was a deep, dark, dank night. But to the camera, the fog reflected light and familiar city scenes became a continuous scrolling Chinese ink painting.
There is so much subtle light in the darkness. Subtle light is one of my favorite subjects to explore. “Fog Storm, V” is a luminous metaphor. It is midnight turned into day by shifting light filtering through phenomenal fog.
